This year's NDP was another success story for our team as we managed to capture the nation's 60th birthday in ways that no ordinary person would witness. This collaboration with the NDP executive committee brought months of preparation, technical challenges, and memorable moments.
Early Engagement with NDP Executive Committee
The journey began in February this year when the NDP executive committee reached out to us. With established credit in providing the cinematic in-air view to both NDP 2023 and NDP 2024, our reputation for delivering cinematic aerial footage gave us leverage for Singapore's diamond jubilee celebration. And as co-partners, we had a stake in ensuring this historic event became truly spectacular.
The committee recognised our expertise in professional drone operations and aerial perspectives that had previously enhanced National Day celebrations. Our decade of experience in aviation and unmanned aerial systems positioned us perfectly for this prestigious assignment.
Meeting the NDP 2025 Creative Director

The collaboration with the creative director of NDP 2025, Boo Junfeng, was both thrilling and challenging. Best known as the director of the 2018 and 2021 NDPs, the 41-year-old moviemaker brought ambitious visions involving creativity in drone photography solutions. His concept of extending the show from the Padang to Marina Bay demanded aerial filming capabilities we had never attempted at this scale.
During planning sessions, creative directors outlined requirements for high-resolution footage to capture intimate performance moments and sweeping aerial video sequences. The integration of 39 home-grown artists across multiple stages meant our licensed drone operators needed to choreograph flights with unprecedented precision.
Planning and Simulation
Our technical team spent weeks developing flight plans for the massive 360-degree mobile stage and eight additional island stages around the Padang. The state-of-the-art setup included 270 LED screens and projection mapping on surrounding buildings, creating complex lighting conditions for our drone aerial video systems.
Simulation sessions became crucial as we tested different aerial photography angles and drone shots that would work within Singapore's strict aviation regulations. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) established temporary restricted areas covering most of Singapore during rehearsal dates, requiring careful coordination with our licensed drone operations.
Multiple Rounds, from Padang to the Bay Area
Creative collaboration involved numerous revisions to our aerial filming approach. The team's vision for close proximity shots during performances required geo-fencing systems that could operate safely near crowds while maintaining videography quality standards.
Each creative meeting refined our understanding of how drone technology could enhance the storytelling elements. From Go-Live to National Anthem, the show structure demanded different aerial perspectives for each segment, challenging our pilot crews to master varied flight patterns.
Hotwash Debrief
Post-rehearsal debriefing sessions proved invaluable for identifying technical improvements. Wind conditions around Marina Bay affected drone stability during specific sequences, leading to flight altitude and positioning adjustments. The team analysed footage quality and identified opportunities for enhanced cinematography techniques.
Safety protocols received particular attention during debrief sessions. Operating near military aircraft during rehearsals required split-second timing and constant communication with air traffic control. Our inspection procedures ensured all equipment met CAAS and RSAF (Air Participation) requirements for subsequent flights.
Following Flights for Actual Shots
The actual NDP 2025 performances on 9th August will bring everything together. Our aerial video will capture the most significant mobile stage in NDP history as it moves through its choreographed sequences. Integrating building projections, fireworks, and water floats creates a visual spectacle that demands expert videography skills.
Flying over Marina Bay during the evening performance presents unique challenges. The floating stage mounted on a Republic of Singapore Navy Fast Craft Utility requires precise drone positioning to capture Benjamin Kheng's performance with 12 dancers. Our professional drone systems promise to deliver broadcast-quality footage despite challenging lighting conditions.

Our chief pilot and technical lead carried out all flights to the highest standard of CAAS regulations and safety guidelines. They have carefully planned and coordinated their activities, drone operations, with the military aircraft displays, and produced dynamic aerial footage. At the same time, by converting the NDP vision into movie flight paths, the creative director sought to find a balance between creative intentions and technical viability, which provides the visual prowess.
Off-camera, our technical support and post-production staff coordinated to ensure that processes were streamlined and the latest technology was up-to-date. The quick turnaround in editing rehearsal tape resulted in the ability to improve on the fly, and advances in maintenance and logistical management kept the shoots moving even in a racing schedule and changeable weather conditions.
